OK, its that time of year again...
Decision time. I purchased my wife's Xmas gift 2 days ago and having it delivered next week. She asked me what I want and I told her a 12 Gauge with 18" barrel. Im getting it next week (But it will get wrapped and opened Xmas eve). I have narrowed it to 2, which one would you go with?
Remington 870, new from Bass Pro
or
Browning BPS used from Vans
The difference in price is only about 20 bucks.

At barneys in Gulfport we are getting LE turn in 870s and they are going for $220. These are the parkerized, heavy chrome lined barrel and all metal trigger group ones. But we are a ways away haha.

Scads of aftermarket stuff for the 870, if you like to customize things. Hard to beat a Remmy.

I owned an 870 that was only a couple of years old. I couldn't come to terms with the locking mechanism built into the safety button. Decided I just couldn't tolerate a lock like that on a defensive gun. Traded it on another gun.
Not saying it caused any problem, or that I know anyone who had a problem with one, just something to think about.

Hmmm hard choice, I like both the 870 and BPS. If you're gonna customize, the 870 if you just gonna keep it fairly stock the BPS. My

I had an 870 in FL and fired it over 60,000 times. It was still going strong when I had a rear end accident and it was destroyed. I have another 870TB and would not take anything for it.

The 870s don't have that lock in the safety anymore I don't believe. I think the 870 is a good choice.
Lt. Dan what's the specs on those LE turn ins? I may need to make a trip south. Do they have extended mags?
Maybe we could get 3 or 4 to go and split gas?
