Ultrasonic Case Cleaning

Post by jbpmidas on Fri Oct 14, 2011 3:36 pm

Anybody using this method? I was looking at, and reading about, the Hornady Lock-n-Load cleaner. What are your thoughts? I would only use it for small quantity rifle brass such as .308 for F-Class.

I know a couple of folks that have used them and they appear to work fine. You have to make sure everything is dry before loading.
I prefer my Franklin Arsenal media tumbler. Can get ground up walnut real cheap at pet stores.

We've been using media. I'm just curious if getting some of the carbon out of the inside of the case is beneficial. We clean cases anyway, so no real extra work might be worth it!

I wouldn't spend the kind of money they are charging. Just get on ebay and find a jewlery cleaner, I bought a little oval shaped one on there for about 20 bucks. Did the research they use the same freqencies. Mine works pretty good, I usually use around 3 or 4, 3 minute cycles and they come out clean. Either make a dryer box, use a hairdryer, or let them sit out for a day or 2 and you are good to go. I can clean around 20 300 win mags at a time.

Would you mind sending a link like the one you got? What liquid media do you use?

I ordered the cleaner that BigRoost suggested to me. I plan on using it exclusively with my match brass. I'll report back next week after the State F-Class match. I'm excited about trying it because I hate tumbling!
