Loaded rounds not fitting in Gage
I've been loading some 45 ACP with lead round nose (230 grains) bullets. However, about 15 to 20% of the rounds fail to fully seat in my case gage. The area around the bullet appears to be too big while the base of the brass has plenty of room. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is this a problem with 15 to 20% of my case bullets? Am I seating the bullets too deep in the case (if so, they should all have problems). Is this a typical problem with lead bullets? Thanks!

Are you using any type "crimp" on them?

That may be your problem. Using lead boolits often requires the flaring of the case neck a little more than normal ... accordingly you may have just a little flare left in the case mouth ... I use a taper crimp die and apply a light taper crimp on most all reloads for my autoloaders when using cast boolits (all the time since I RARELY use jacketed ones) .... The Lee factory taper dies works very well .... DO NOT ROLL CRIMP. This is may take on the issue ....

I wound having to seat mine just a shade deeper to make up for the 1 thousands difference in size. But before you do this, yes, give them a slight taper crimp to get the OD back to where it should be. Let us know how this works.

Thanks, I'll try crimping them and see if it cures the problem. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!

PROBLEM SOLVED, THANKS! I ordered and received a Hornady taper crimp die yesterday. Ran each of the problem rounds through the die and they slipped into the gage perfectly. Thanks for all the great advice!

Another way you can do that is just take your barrel out of gun and drop em in...
But you already got your case ga
Comp shooters will often check every round right before a match this way
Glad u got problem fixed
