USGI 22's galore...thanks to CMP
Thought I would share the fruits of last Wednesday's trip to Anniston. I went hoping for a decent 03A3 shooter. Picking were slim to nonexistent on those, so went to my fallback choice...22 rifles. A week after their release, they still had a decent selection of most models. There were only two Mossberg 44US's left, but I felt one of them was in reasonable condition. It is by far the roughest of the bunch, but it was only $150 so what the heck.

Next up is a Remington 513T. The wood looks okay, but pretty grungy, and the metal is decent. This one should clean up nicely:

My "high-end" purchase was a Harrington & Richardson model 12. Other than a couple of bad scrapes on the barrel it's very nice:

All three came without sights, and the Mossberg and Remmy both need magazines. All do have U.S. markings. Some brief research has me thinking that putting the proper sights on these rifles will cost more than the rifles did.
Probably going to try a scope on the H&R for fun. On the plus side, all three do have sight blocks already, and the H&R has scope blocks.
It's unlikely CMP will ever again have these in any quantity, so I'm glad I had the opportunity to get these. Plus, a trip to the South Store is always a good day, albeit a very long one.

Those were some good choices, Shoe. Too bad they were out of the 03A3s. I figured they wouldn't last but maybe a day or two at the most. I got something coming from CMP, I think. Got an e-mail confirming they got my order and had sent it to processing. I'll post up pics once I get it.

Those are some nice rifles, Shoe. I had planned to go to Anniston Saturday but it looked like they were out of most of the .22's according to the website. It looks like I should have gone anyway. Mossberg 44 magazines used to be next to impossible to find. Thank goodness they are making them again. They are making them in 5 and 10 rd.

They had quite a few Wednesday morning. Saturday was undoubtably worse. Wish I had bought one of the Anschutz 54's for $450. They weren't beauty queens, but I bet they would shoot.

I hope you made the cut. I got the "don't bother us" email, so I'm hopeful.

Yep, I think you got it. That's what they sent me and a week later it arrived. http://www.msgunowners.com/t19214-thinking-about-joining-the-traditional-class-along-with-dhollisPhillipM wrote:M1GarandFan wrote:Those were some good choices, Shoe.
