Getting my permit while I get my drivers licence
I have an idea that I think can work in MS. We already have a shall issue law, but under the current rules it takes over 45 days and over 100 dollars. If it only takes my local gun dealer 5 minutes to see if I can own a gun than why cant the nice person at the DMV make the phone call and annotate it on my drivers license? I would gladly pay for a half hour of there time and save all the current headaches, and costs. They say that the charges are to cover the costs, this would save everyone some money. I think it is doable and think that if enough people let the state reps know it is even possible.

This is only speculation (so take it with a grain of salt, as I am ALL IN for firearm freedom and an advocate for the 2nd Amendment to the absolute fullest)....
IF the DMV were to annotate this information on the drivers license, then what would happen if that individual committed a felony and was no longer able to possess a firearm?
Would they have to issue a new drivers license after each incident of a felony?
Would a felon's license be under temporary suspension? Felons still have the right to drive (in most instances)
How would the state go about enforcing their laws/procedures?
Would this then be an inefficient process fiscally? (to issue new licenses, over and over and over)
Would this grant the state funded agency (DPS) more power to regulate licensing?
....I could very well be wrong; just some thoughts to ponder with this proposal.
God bless and welcome to the forums

Unlike for driver's license, the CCW process gives opportunity and time for your local law enforcement to provide input to whether or not you get the CCW permit.
