Yep. Must be more to the story.

On the same web page is a link to this much happier story:

sad to hear about this soldier's misfortune.

and....Good for this young woman defending herself. I hate hearing about how these merchants are basically sitting ducks for criminals to prey upon.

It's more sad to hear of the deputy's death. Just being a soldier doesn't make one a good person and this POS could have just killed himself and left the deputy out of it. At least he was nice enough to save us 20+ years of court and prison costs.

Definitely a tragedy in regards to the shot deputy...I do wonder exactly what went on for things to happen the way they did? Both of them should have had enough training for neither to be trigger happy (leaning towards the soldier doing something stupid and things escalating from there).

And very grateful the young lady nor her child was hurt, however she needs a better teacher--if she feels threatened enough to pull it, she's threatened enough to shoot to kill. None of this 'shoot in the leg to disable' crap.

I've read a good meterstick for judging it is, if you knew pulling the trigger would cost you thousands of dollars and possibly jail time, would you still pull?
