Reloading the 7MM Mah with 154 gr. Hornady sst " Question"
I picked up a box of Hornady 154 gr and don't find much date concerning that bullet. I am partial to the H 4350 powder and can't find any data for that. I have been loading the 150 gr bullets with no problem. What is your feeling using the 150 gr. date with the 154 gr. bullet' Should I just start at the starting load{150} and go from there, or adjust the powder accordingly. I know it's only 4 grains, but I would like you suggestions.

My Hornady 4th edition manual lists H4350 loads at 53.9gr to start for 2600fps up to 62.5gr for 3000fps max load. I've read that it's ok to take the data for the next heavier bullet (in this case a 160gr) and reduce the max load for a given powder by 10% and use that as the starting load to work up a load for your rifle. Of course, you'd watch for pressure signs as you go up in the charge weight. Good luck in your load search.

Thanks Doggoner
I did not have the Hornady Manual. Was in hopes that some would give me a load out of that manual.
Gonna load up a few of the different gr. weights and go to the range Tuesday. I'm an old man and I been reloading a long time, but I have deviated from the book.
Thanks for the help.

I too am considered an "old man". I'm 69 pushing 70. FYI, the manual lists the loads in fps starting at 2600 fps with 3000 as max. The loads listed are 53.9, 56, 58.2, 60.4 and 62.5 grains increasing speed by 1000 fps for each increase in powder weight. Good luck in finding the "majic" load for your rifle.

Hornady 7th Edition manual-AA4350 Starting load 53.1 max 58.3, Winchester WLRM primer
In Ken Waters Pet Loads book he remarks that IMR4350 and H 4831 offer the finest accuracy and velocity potential.
Hope this helps..
