Sig Sauer P290

Post by BeRichH on Sun Oct 23, 2011 6:48 pm

Anybody seen these locally (Jackson)? I've seen $590 shipped w/o laser, +50 w/laser.

This is my first choice for a pocket/sub compact pistol.

Looks like they have a 2 tone listed for $699 w/o laser.
I saw one at Van's a few months ago but didn't get the price. I wasn't as interested then.

There's debate over how "pocketable" it is. It looks really close to my buddy's new p238 except for the slide thickness (just shy of an inch, not including the slide release).
I consider that "pocketable". I also love that its 9mm and +p rated.

The P238 is over an inch shorter in overall length, nearly an inch smaller in overall height, and has a barrel nearly an inch shorter than the P250sc. The width is the same on both, but the capacity of the P250sc in 9mm is double what the P238 has in .380.

OP. I checked them out at Gander Mountain in Hattiesburg. The P290 first edition was nice, but a bit thick. Definitely pocket worthy. However the Ruger LC9 was thinner and seemed to fit hand better. And compared to the kahr cm9, they all are in the same arena. So, in a nutshell, it's whatever platform you prefer. I think my order would be

Sig 290 tie with LC9 (just cause I'm a Sig guy)
CM9

Van's in Brandon has one - It's a heavy piece. Check out the Kimber Solo (if you can find one).

I'm only interested in the Sig and what its price is locally.

Neither the Sig 290 or the Solo are plastic (except for the grips). My Solo is aluminum lower and is a FANTASTIC and ACCURATE and very concealable handgun. See my range report at http://www.msgunowners.com/t12828p20-kimber-solo#195164

I held one and I wasn't a fan. If I am going to pocket carry, I usually will grab my keltec or 442. I am interested in the Colt Mustang they are re-releasing. Hopefully they will have the kinks worked out of it.

Finally ordered one. I'm not a fan of 2-toned pistols but Buds has a good price on one. Now I need a reasonably priced G19.

Academy in Gulfport has the P290 for $499.00 with laser. looked at one last week. The two tone model was a bit more.

I bought the SIG tonight! It came with the laser. The display didn't have the laser on it
