Instructions
As far as I know:
1 Be at least 21 years of age and live in Mississippi for the past year. This may be waived if you are on active duty in the military or already have a CCW permit from another state.
2 Obtain an application from a highway patrol substation. Your application package must consist of the following: completed application; passport photograph; non-refundable fee (retired law enforcement officials are exempt); a set of fingerprints; and a waiver authorizing the Department of Public Safety to search your criminal and mental health history.
3 Submit your application package to the following address: Mississippi State Police, P. O. Box 958, Jackson, MS 39205-0958; email: jtucker@dps.state.ms.us; or call (601) 987-1212.
4 Receive your permit within 120 days, unless it is denied. Renew the permit every four years by paying the renewal fee. You must carry your CCW permit and a valid identification when you carry a concealed firearm. You must also present these documents upon demand by a law enforcement officer.
5 Keep your concealed firearm out of the following areas unless specifically authorized: law enforcement facilities, courthouses, polling places, public parks, bars, airport terminals, churches or anywhere else that posts a sign banning firearms.

I yanked this off the web; it is basically correct. I cannot spot any wrong information with it. I obtained my CCW from FL as a resident and it gives me reciprocity here in MS (as well as 36 other states, which is most in the nation at this point and time).
For a hunting permit: you must satisfy the hunter's ed safety course. You can do 80% online and then 3 hrs in a classroom. Once you complete the class you will receive your certificate and card verifying your completion of the class. After this, you go to a Walmart or Bass Pro Shops and file the form to get the license/permit. There are several types of wildlife permits, each varying in expiration and type of wildlife you seek for sporting purposes.
Hope this helps.
God bless

Re: How do you get a permit?
Now it only takes about 30-45 days to get your permit as the finger prints are done electronically now. They only take new apps on wed at woodrow wilson and renewals on tuesdays. Unless I have this backwards best to call them and check. Also beleive its 5 years now and you can take a course and get an sticker that says IC on it and then you can take it pretty much anywhere. Bars, schools, courthouses. Its called HB 506. look on this forum there is a whole section devoted to it.
