Romanian or Russian ammo?

Post by Doggy1953 on Wed Oct 26, 2011 10:44 pm

Is there any difference in shooting Romanian 7.62x54 149 gr silver tip light ball or Russian 7.62x54 149 gr lightball in MN 91/30? Or they both about the same? This would be for just range shooting. Thanks.

I prefer the Russian; however Ive only used the 762x54r romanian on few occasions. i do like the hot shot 762x39 romanian ammo for shootin around at the range.

i guess if youre plinkin around, go with whats cheaper lol. (i know many will disagree with this probably)

MAKE SURE TO CLEAN YOUR 91/30 at the range with water or that corrosive ammo will eat your bolt for lunch!

For cleaning for corrosive priminguse:

1/4 cup Murphy's Oil Soap Concentrate to 1 gallon water, swab twice, dry bore and use Hoppe's #9 on a bronze brush. 12 cyles with the brush. dry bore and oil as usual. Check bore in 3 days and repeat the process if the bore looks dusty. I have never had to reclean the bore after 3 days.

Clean bolt face and bolt with MOS as well.
