I have used it before, years ago in a homemade tumbler.
It worked well enough to reload with. Actually left a slight oily film on the brass. The rice would discolor after several uses... residue from the spent powder and bullet lube. Overall it did ok. It never caused any issues concerning reloading. Just don't expect the brass to be super shiny like new brass. I have never used it in a modern vibratory cleaner. I actually hope to get back into reloading soon and have actually thought of trying it again myself. It's a cheaper way of doing it if you don't have to have brass that looks like new. Give it a try. Good Luck!

You might try industrial rice powder instead of whole rice. We used it to polish stainless steel in the gins, shined it up nice and made it real slick.

Back in 1974 when I started reloading, I made a tumbler from a Charlie Chips can, a big bolt, and an electric ice cream maker motor. I used rice as the media and jeweler's rouge. That worked OK for then (not nearly as good as what we have today). One day I got the bright idea to add Comet cleaner to speed up the process. BAD IDEA... the brass came out with a permanent satin finish..... Sad
