AAC 300 Blackout 9" accuracy
I know some of you guys have 300 blackout uppers. I'm thinking that, for my next project, I'm going to get a 9" upper and an AAC 762-SD for my SBR.
Does anyone have any idea the accuracy that I can expect from a 9" barrel? I'll be shooting subsonic handloads exclusively and, from what I've read, you don't miss much energy from the shorter barrel with subsonics, but I'm not sure how it will affect the accuracy of the round out to 200 yards.

Don't have any real world experience with a 9" on a 300, only what I've read at arfcom and 300blktalk

shooting a mix of subsonics and full power ammo, would there be any advantage of going to an 11" bbl over the 9"

Re: AAC 300 Blackout 9" accuracy
All I can tell you is that my 16" barrel with 125gr handloads runs 2150-2250fps. AAC shows that a 9" runs 2000fps with that same projectile....that isn't a big difference for the ranges the caliber would be used. As soon as I get my paperwork done, I'm going with as short of a barrel as I can on my 300. If I hunt with it, I'm sticking with inside 100yds. If I'm trying to hit kill something 200+, then I'm using a different rifle.
That's one of the benefits of this cartridge is that you don't get a real big gain by going to longer barrels.

my main concern was it cycling subsonics...i didnt know if the extra 2" past the gas port would make much difference

That's why I went with the pistol length gas system.

It's my understanding that the pistol length gas system is best for subsonic so the action will cycle on short barrels (like a 9").

Pistol length gas is best for any barrel under 16 inches for any type of ammo.
Remington UMC 115:

On a full auto, subsonic suppressed and supersonic unsuppressed 115 are at the same cyclic rate. Adding a suppressor to the 115 UMC only raises the cyclic rate about 50rpm - about 1/4 as much as it would in 5.56mm. So the same gas port is ideal for both.

I have a 16 inch one and I can get between three and four inches with mine but that is with open sites and remington subsonic ammo.
