USPSA Match 11/6
I have shot a steel match at Magnolia and I am thinking about shooting the USPSA match on 11/6. With that in mind, I have some questions: 1) do I need to check in with someone before 11/6 or just show up? 2) How many rounds do you suggest I bring? 3) What time do I need to get there? 4) How long does the match usually last? 5) Cost? Thanks for any input/advice.

1) You are welcome to just show up. However you can sign up ahead of time here: http://teammagnolia.com/registration.php
2) I would bring 200 rounds. You probably won't use it all, but it's always good to have extra
3) Setup traditionally starts at 7. Hammer down at 9
4) USPSA at it's longest may run until 2. Most matches run till right at or a little after noon.
5) First match is free, plus 5$ for lunch if you want it (Shane never disappoints with lunch, I recommend it
). Future matches are 15$.

Unless you are a Team Magnolia member (a $10 yearly membership fee) and then the matches are $10 each.
Come on out!

Just show up to the match, tell John you want to join Team Magnolia, and he'll probably just charge you for the remainder of the year.
We usually re-up at the beginning of the year.

If you enjoyed shooting steel you will love USPSA. Shane's food is great and the fellowship is outstanding.

I think the fee is $20 to join Team Magnolia and since it's nearly the end of the year, John will probably just tell you to wait and join in January. That's what he had me do when I wanted to join last November.Will_M wrote:BigDaddyQ wrote:How do you join team magnolia. I sent them an email and haven't heard back yet.

JD,
You're probably right. $20 sounds more like it.

Not sure how I missed it if you sent a message through the Contact Us page on the TeamMagnolia.com website but if I did I apologize.
The guys here are correct. First match is free and after that the normal fee is $15. As the guys have said, you can pay $20 per year to join the TeamMagnolia competition group. It's just a way to help us get some extra money up front each year for expenses like targets, pasters, etc. If you join we take $5 off your match fees so if you plan to shoot more than 4 matches per year it pays off. The $20 fee gets pro-rated down to $10 about halfway through the year.
Lunch is typically $5 and includes whatever Shane feels like cooking and whatever Richard feels like bringing to drink. I don't think anyone has left feeling ripped off yet.
200 rounds should get you through the match with ammo to spare. Most matches are around 100-115 rounds minimum but it's nice to have extra if you wind up having to reshoot a 30 round stage or two.
Other than that, you'll need eye and ear protection, a 9mm or larger caliber handgun, magazines or speedloaders capable of carrying at least 32 rounds ready to go, and a good attitude.
See you guys Sunday
