Tumbler function/operation question
Picked up a Frankford Arsenal quick n easy tumble and have a qestion about its function and operation. This tumbler has a clear cover so I can see it while it works. I seems to just shake the media and brass and moves it in a circular pattern. The demos I have seen on youtube show the contents moving toward the center and rotating from top to bottom.
Mine does not do this. I filled it about 2/3 full with corn cob media and about 400 9mm brass. I ran it for about 2 hours and it seem to clean it well and has a decent polish shine to it. Does this seem to be normal or ok? I can still return this itme no questions asked, but since it seems to clean the brass I wonder if I should do anything. I am more concerned that it is not working to its full abilities now and will not last long.
Thanks!

Re: Tumbler function/operation question
I've got one of those. It depends on how full it is and the media-to-brass ratio. Sounds like it might be a little too full. It will still work even though it is just circling.
Edit: I'm at 2 years on mine. Its run at least 5k pieces of brass.

I have the same one. I think it works better with 400 brass than 100. It may not look like the same swirling action, but it cleans better and faster with more brass.
Take a used dryer sheet and tear it into strips, and drop them in the tumbler when you run your next batch. You will be suprised at the fine dust that is collected.
Oh yea, I have had mine about 6 months, and about 1500 rounds. no problems.

It depends on how much brass and media you put in it. It cleans it just as well however it gets tumbled. Need to try the dryer sheet trick sometime

I've used pieces of blue paper towel and they seem to work as well as the dryer sheets.

Tighten the bolts, if it has some for holding the bowl.
I have a large Dillon and about all it ever does is bounce the cases up and down.

.. not uncommon; as stated above, all depends on the level of media and # of cases .... should work either way ......

I noticed if you leave the top off while tumbling it will vibrate more and you get the outside to center, up and down motion. Tighten the clear lid on you get less vibration and less motion. I think the lid is just for storage.
