I never thought much of the Winchester 190.

That was the first gun I bought myself. Worked for my grandfather plowing, planting and cultivating the summer I was twelve for 50 cents per hour. Western Auto had a sale and I got one with a scope for $59.99. I quit using a shotgun for squirrels after that. It still runs today with no issues.

This was Winchester's answer to the Remington Nylon 66 and Marlin Model 60. Accuracy and reliability were on par with the others in that price range. The had a lever action version that you could get in 22 WMR. I wanted one of those until the 94/22M came out.

This is a link for breakdown and reassembly instructions. Plastic components in trigger group can be problematic.

Make sure you get a chance to fire it first. Some are jam o matics. They sometimes only need a cleaning to function correctly. Others ive seen defy all reason as to why they jam. Still others shoot wonderfully. Also look on the barrel some are marked short long and long rifle if Winchester. Most Ted Williams (same gun sold by Sears) are marked S L & LR
