Steyr SBS tactical
Just picked up one of these in a trade I don't know much about them except what I've read but the guy made me an offer I could not turn down so does anyone have any experience with Steyr rifles? It has a 20" cold hammer forged barrel, ten round detachable mag, and a McMillian stock.

Yeah it's 308 everything I've read states they are very accurate and not imported into the US anymore. Guess well see. The guy I trade with threw in a Mk4 3.5-10x40 with badger rings and a PWA preban lower

I had one in 25-06. One of the best shooting rifles I have ever owned and I'm still kicking myself in the butt for trading it off.
The trigger was great, the bolt operated nicely and I really loved the safety on it.

Used to have a SSG-4 with double set triggers. Sweet rifle but spare mags were over $100...it got traded.

from the looks of things; i don't know if i would call that rifle a SBS tactial. from what i can see it looks like a steyr prohunter mountain rilfe with a extended mag and a tac knob. with that being said steyr's are great rifles and if i could afford more of them i would have more of them. have fun and shoot the hell out of it. range report.. please!!

It has SBS tactical .308 written on the receiver just under the scope rail this is the light weight version not the HB and it shoot great I put three shots in the same hole @ 100 yards using hornady 165 SST I'll post a pic later when I get home. I also did a pine straw rattle can paint job on it and took the MK4 off and replaced it with a bushnell 4200 elite 2.5-10 as I'm going to use the MK4 on another project I've got in the works.

Mark's outdoors in Birmingham has Styer pro-hunters from time to time on sale for real good prices. Only problem is the 308 sells out first 2 hours of sales everytime. I went to get one and all he had left when I got there was odd calibers, 25-06 and 7-08 I think. The prohunter has a different stock and floor plate, but same hammer forged barrel and rolling safety. I like them alot but not enough to buy one in a caliber I don't already own or load for.

Her she is with her new skin, I put the rifle back in the factory stock because I'm going to use it for hunting and the McMillan stock made the rifle cumbersome. I also just picked up a Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15x40 for cheap that will replace the 4200 2.5-10x40. If you notice the Grizz can in the back ground by the tape that's 3 shots at 100 yards off the bag with Hornady 165gr SST's. I really like the rifle and think it's going to make a great light weight hunting rig it has a super trigger that breaks like glass.

Yeah it's perfect for where I hunt most my shots are under 300 yards. The Steyr SBS Tac pretty much replaced my M700 LTR and R700 Sendero as my go to hunting rifle this year. I don't think I've even taken the Remingtons out of the safe since I got the Steyr.
