Confirming Hunting Load Accuracy - M48 7mm-08 - Ten shot group
I went to the range this morning to confirm that the three shot group I shot the other day was for real and not a fluke. I was a little concerned when I got to the range because I forgot my good targets I like to use when trying to shoot good groups, so I had to make me one. This is the best I could do today with ten shots. The load is a 140gr Accubond, Powder: W760, Brass: Nosler Custom, Primer: 210 Fed, OAL: 2.780", Velocity: 2800fps.
Three shot group from the other day

Today's ten shot group with only one called flyer and that is the hole at the top of the group - I am ready to hunt

Yeah, I'd say you're ready.
I've got a new .308 that I need to work up a load for. It's only acceptably accurate w/ factory ammo at 200 yds. -- about 3-3.5 inches for five shots.
Good looking group.

Great group. You should be able to pick fleas off a prairie dog.

I certainly do not have any excuse for missing game, because it won't be the rifles fault.

That is really impressive. I guess this means I need to start saving up for my Nosler rifle in 308.

Awesome...realy nice...I hate when its my fault...
One of these days you gonna convince me to try some of those accubonds....
when I look at em in the box they just don't thrill me
but I'm gonna have to try em now
I'm in the process of working up a 7mm-08 load myself...might try your recipe
Good Luck with whatever you are hunting...

Makes me think of one time when CSA357 showed a fella a target that had a group on it about like one of these and the fella said "So, you missed the bullseye." I guess three shots in one hole didn't impress him. LOL

That bottom target looks like some I've used before.

Yeah, that is what us Mississippi boys use when times are hard or the ink has run out in our printers or when we are left with no choice but to adapt, especially when the good targets are sitting on the kitchen counter and you are at the range.

Lol I keep all my range gear in my car. Targets. Stands. Etc. A friend picked me up one day in his truck and we got to the range before I realised I had left everything but my stand. None of the stakes I use to hold it down. Tape. Targets. Nothin. Was NOT a happy camper. Now I always take my own car

You are better than me. My bother and I were going to the range and he said come on get in my car I will drive, I grabbed my stuff and one of my rifles (that is right I left the other on the floorboard in the back). I got to the range and upset but also worrying the whole time if I had locked the doors on my truck.
Now I have everything under control after this event (I thought), because I drive myself from now on and each evening before I go to the range I load my truck except for my guns which I leave by the door in the Kitchen. This time my wife was engaging me in conversation when I was load my truck and I guess that is why I left the targets on the kitchen counter. I truly understand and you can imagine how I felt when I opened my gun box and noticed the target where not there and I was going to try and shoot a ten shot group for accuracy. Oh well, it happens and things did not turn out bad.

When I read the subject line I thought you had built a 7-08 on a surplus M48 Mauser! That's a precision instrument ya got there!

oooooohweee! I would be grinning from ear to ear with that group. Excellent.... The more I read and see about the 7mm-08.... the more I would like to add one to the barn.
Re: Confirming Hunting Load Accuracy - M48 7mm-08 - Ten shot group
Yes, the 7mm-08 is not a finicky cartridge to load for with any weight bullet. And it is a real killer with out punishing the hunter. And my rifle is a Nosler M48 TGR.
