the neighbors are restless.....

Post by Rebel Rifle Ordnance on Sat Nov 12, 2011 5:06 am

Finally got my M/11 SWD yesterday. What a blast. I burned through 100+ rounds before I could blink an eye. I have three uppers, stock, Max-11 and AMP 11. So far, the AMP 11 is my favorite because of the steel mags. Max 11 is MUCH lighter but all I have are the crummy plastic mags. Any idea where to find stock metal mag's for the M/11?

After some 6 PM cycles, I felt certain the sheriff's department would show up. I have 10 acres of land and a berm that I shoot into. However, I do have neighbors. No call's to the SO or at least they never showed up at my house. I can't wait to get the .22 conversion.

Pic's to follow as soon as I can quit shooting..

Congrats! I bought two metal mags from http://www.usmachinegun.com They work in the stock M11/9 upper, but not in the MAX-11. I've read that you can dremel the feed lips to change the geometry to get them to work. I'll probably try soon. Some people bend the feed ramp on the M11/9 receiver, but I'm not going to do that.

I also bought 2 pro-mag mags, which are fairly new to the market. They're plastic, but better than the factory Zytels. However, I find I need to insert the mag entirely, then tug down a bit to make it work with the MAX-11.

Remind me - are you getting a suppressor for it? Mine's fairly quiet with a Liberty Mystic and subsonics. Louder than an MP5 with the same can, but still much improved over unsuppressed.

Ammo-wise I've had pretty good luck with any round nosed ammo after it broke in some, but mine won't feed flat nosed or hollow points. I just put together a batch of 147 subsonics with Precision Delta round nosed 147's and hope I have good luck with them.

Hey Bitwise. How long have you had yours? Seems like I recall we both got ours about the same time? I bought mine around the first part of June this year.

I just bought a Liberty Mystic. I haven't shot the Lage upper yet. I was having too much fun with the AMP-11. I really like it a lot. The metal stick mag's are so much better than the stock M/11 piece of crap mags. Are there any steel mags that work with the MAX11?

I'm on the waiting list for the MAX-33 as well. I think I'm going to pass it up when Richard contacts me because his doesn't work with stick mags, only Cofin and Drums. The AMP works with the double stack stick mags and the drums.

Davy, does the AMP take unmodified Suomi M31 stick mags? And FYI: It is MAX-31, not MAX-33.... Smile

The Suomi M31, Swedish K (M45), and Port Said all take the same 36rd stick mag. I use slightly modified M31 mags in my S&W 76. They are GREAT mags.

We NEED pictures..................... Smile

Hey Davy,

I've had mine for about two months now, I think. Time flies. I had a bit of a break-in period with my Lage upper - it initially didn't want to feed most types of ammo, but now it'll feed WWB reliably.

I don't know of any steel mags that work out of the box with the MAX-11. Richard's steel feed lips are supposed to be great. I've got a few sets but haven't installed them on any mags yet.

I'm sure you know this, but that Mystic is going to get crazy hot when you put it on your M11. I bought a pair of Nomex gloves for taking the thing on and off the gun. It doesn't hurt the can at all, but will hurt your skin if you grab it.

Crazy hot, lol. I guess I can burn the bad guy after I shoot him. Maybe I can get an endcap that says, "you lose" or something sarcastic like that....I'm just kidding though.

Bitwise, what did you do to correct your feeding problem? Mine will only fire one round and then jam. The same bullets, 115 grain feed perfectly in my AMP-11 upper.

Mine just required a break in period. The first couple of mags I had to rack the bolt pretty much every round. When some of us met up at Da Shed it was only about 2 days in my possession and was still very much teething.

I found shooting WWB during the break-in helped a lot. I was shooting American Eagle initially and it appeared not to have quite enough oomph to get the bolt to lock back into position. After a few hundred rounds it's now feeding everything but my 147 gr reloads, and I think I'm close to finding the right recipe there.

I got an email today from Jackie saying my MAX-22 conversion was ready to go, so hopefully I'll have that next week and can report on my experiences with it.

Notice neighbors behind me. I had three separate ones show up after I started shooting. I let them shoot now they are conspirators as well.

UPDATE on MAX-11 UPPER!!!

I got her working like clockwork. I took the advice of Richard Lage and other's on Uzi forum and slightly bent the feed ramp up with a crescent wrench and some card board. I also polished the ramp with some 1000 grit sand paper. Now she runs like a clock! I am so happy. I'm learning so much about this gun.

I am now fully addicted to SMG's. This is like going from alcohol to illicit drugs! (not that I am a proponent of either) Now I want something else! So many choices, Ruger AC556, MP 40 and dream guns M16 and AK47.

Here are a few video's. The first one is what happens when you get your semi auto firing pin mixed up with your SMG firing pin!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBlycmyKLPk and here she is with the correct firing pin:
