Anyone have or know anything about Advantage Arms Glock .22 conversion kits?
Just wondering if they're a worthwhile item. Reviews seem mixed, at best, however most folks who have them seem to hold on to them.

Can't vouch for the glock kit, but the 1911 one works great. I've owned 2 ( traded one, and replaced it asap).

Thanks SilentHitz. Wasn't ignoring your post, but was hoping for a Glock report or two. I think I read where BigdaddyQ was getting a Glock conversion, so hopefully, he'll give us a report.
You say yours works pretty well with your 1911? Does it jam much? Also, have you found it to be picky about ammo? That seems to be the biggest complaint about the Glock conversions. Seems they're similar to a Sig Mosquito, in that they only like the good and expensive stuff and bulk ammo is pretty much useless. Since it's only gonna be a range toy, I'm not too concerned with an occasional jam, as long as it's not a complex one, but I read of a few that never seemed to be able to empty a mag without jamming several times. I'd find that annoying and problematic.
Bad thing is, these kits cost nearly as much as a new purpose built .22, so they really do need to work fairly well, or they're really not worth the trouble. Anyhow, I do appreciate your report.

Re: Anyone have or know anything about Advantage Arms Glock .22 conversion kits?
I have one for my G19 I bought several years ago, but I haven't used it in quite some time. I can say it was great for practicing tap rack bang drills! I always used bulk 22 ammo from Wal-Mart - usually Federal. I typically had a malfunction every other mag or so. Getting the thing to go fully into battery was a problem for me. I had better luck when I loaded 8 rounds in the 10 round mags instead of filling them up.
If I had it to do over again I would have just bought a dedicated 22 pistol instead.

Funny Bitwise, I think you're reading my mind.
As finicky as these seem to be and as difficult as they are to find, that may be the route I take. There seems to be one made in Austria that appears to have a pretty decent reputation, however there isn't a wealth of info available about them. Reading about these kits lead me to believe a person might need some light gunsmithing skills just to get along with them. Funny thing is, some of the kits seem to work a lot better than others. 1911 and Sig kits seem pretty reliable, but Glock kits seem a little hit or miss.

OK I'm back with a range report. Went today shot 350 rounds through it and had 2 FTF in all those shots turns out one happened on the video where I shot 50 shots in like 10 seconds all in the paper from 10 yards. here is link to video and pic of target will be posted soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaNXgsbWza0
My opinion is its worth every penny. I love it. It shoots very accurate, and very reliable.

Thats 50 shots from 10 yards as fast as I can pull the trigger. Ammo was 16.99 for 550 of them. They were Remington Golden Bullets. Didn't even bother trying the CCI minimags or other expensive stuff. didn't try the 60 grain auillas either maybe next time.

Hey Big Daddy - I'm jealous. What model Glock? I need to try golden bullets in mine since you're getting that sort of reliability! If it still doesn't work I may send it back to the factory.

That is impressive BigDaddyQ. I'd like to know some more details about your rig, too. Also, where did you find yours and, if you don't mind, how much did it set you back? Don't answer that, if you'd prefer not to, but I'm seeing a lot of references about $265 or so, however I'm not able to find any in stock for that. The ones I can find are priced well above $300. I could live with and appreciate one as good as yours, though.

Dam 265 would have been nice. Got mine in Grenada on Saturday for 299 plus tax. Ended up costing 321 and some change. The extra mags were marked 29 a piece but he let my buddy have them for i think 21 a piece. I didn't go as I'm always on call so my buddy went and picked up 2. His name on here is Second ammendment I think. He was with me today and I think he shot close to 400. He didn't have a single jam or misfire all day. I shot quick and probably didn't seat the bullets to the back of the mag

That's about what I'm finding and probably about the best we can do on a new kit. Haven't quite decided which of mine I want to convert, but it may wind up being the 30 or 36, simply because I'm having trouble finding one for a 26/27 in stock. The two you guys have seem to speak pretty well for them, though. I've read that these things like to run clean and like a little more lube than a regular Glock. Maybe you can let us know about that, too, after you've run a few more rounds through them.

I am Big Daddy Q's buddy that picked up the conversion kits in Grenada at Gold-N-Gun. I was with him today at the range and I can confirm that we both had grins on our faces. It gives you a chance to practice and develop your marksmanship without breaking the bank. The conversion kit will easily pay for itself within four trips to the range, especially if you shoot as much as Big Daddy Q. We used remington golden bullets, which are extremely cheap. In my opinion well worth the price of admission.

HEY HEY Great first post none of this "Hey I'm new here welcome me" stuff. He speaks the truth there. It was dam fun and saved me about 70$ today alone. You'll notice in my target they are all a little to the right I'm pretty sure since I was shooting as fast as I possibly could pull the trigger that I had to much finger on the trigger. We set up a little mini station today with out the barrels or walls. Think we had 14 shot station. 6 steel and 4 paper targets. Also shot fast. The orange pasters are both of us shooting. You'll notice more of them were close to the bullseye and we were approximately 15 yards give or take a yard when shooting them.

i had an advantage arms kit for my g22 for a few years. i loved it. pretty accurate with the goldens and mini mags. i believe AA says not to use federal ammo with it and must be atleast 36 grains. its a good idea to clean it every 100 rounds or so. i've had some residue bite me a few times.

The Advantage Arms 22 conversion on my Timberwolf frame is great. I bought it for my Gloock 17 then bought a frame and all Glock parts from lonewolfdist.com and built my own Glock 17/22. IT IS FUN!!!
