All Nosler - A Paradox

Post by bullet on Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:41 pm

It would be an understatement to say that I have been an "ECLECTIC" gun owner, shooter and re-loader all my teen and adult life.

Definition of an "Eclectic gun nut, shooter and load developer" - is a person who has the desire to own many different makes and kinds of rifles, with a broad taste for style and workmanship in guns, along with choosing and experiencing many different components for load development.

Yet, the most consistent results I have ever had with any rifle, bullet and brass combination, has been with my Nosler M48 TGR 7mm-08, using the 140gr Accubond and Nosler brass - in other words ALL NOSLER!!! (except for powder and primer). When considering the many guns both custom and standard production rifles, that I have owned through the years, nothing compares to my ALL NOSLER experience as of late - for style, fit, finish, weight, balance, handling, shooting accuracy, load components and joy over the results of the total experience.

I will admit that at the moment I have more confidence in my new setup than I have ever had in any setup in the past. Maybe I am lucky, and everything from the manufacture of my rifle, to me ending up with this particular one, at this specific time in my life, all came together just at the right time - I don't know? But, what I do know is that I have a once in a lifetime gun and I can never let it go. My grandson will be the next owner.

I don't think, that I would have believed anybody, if they told me I would one day use a rifle, bullet, and brass from the same company as my go to rifle and load for accuracy, especially it being a hunting rifle. Yes, All Nosler for me would surely have been a paradox, but no longer. Go figure!!!!

I bought that rifle from Nosler for $1495.00, yep, that is right, it was an over run of 7mm-08 and they offered it to me and I could not resist that rifle for that price. Now, do you guys know that Nosler is letting you buy guns now on a payment plan. That's right Lay-a-way. You think you could do a rifle like that on a payment plan, contact Shawn Finley at Nosler, and he will set you up.

I see nothing paradoxal about combining world class parts into a package that delivers world class results. You certainly appear to have a winner. I'll bet Arizona bears sleep a little lighter now.

Guys, the paradox was that I was given to being eclectic in my choice of guns mixed with components for load work and for me it was a paradox. Smile

Well, let me just go all the way Smile

I really like my Nosler M48 TGR in 7mm-08 and how the Nosler components are working in it right now giving me superb accuracy. I am leaving Friday with my Grandson to go to Arizona and when we get back on the 25th, I am ordering the VX-3 2.5-8x36 with the Nosler Logo engraved on the side from Nosler. My 6x is tracking great but I thought since I spent the money to by the Nosler why not dress it up with a Scope that will be perfect for my 7mm-08.

Here is my worst target to date of my hunting load 140gr Accubond, Nosler Brass, W760, Fed 210 primers, three shot sight in group. I stop by the range and a friend of mine let me slip into his spot, and I fired these only 30 seconds apart with a 22 mph cross wind at 100yds. I can't wait for the Leupold to sit on top this rifle.

Hard to go more custom that Nosler, They make the M48 action, Pac Nor barrel free floated, Basix trigger, B&C Medalist stock also bedded , Ceakote finish, Micro slick finish on all internal parts including inside the bolt. You get a lot for the price and gunsmith will charge a lot more and give you much less.

You're right about that. When I say custom I guess I think "Jarret" or somebody like that.

What scope reyou going to use? I looked at a Trijicon 2.5-10x56 yesterday and I can't remember a clearer scope. Somtimes it is hard to tell without having them side by side. $400 and it was like new with all of the paper work. Not sure how that big thing would look on little Kimber though.

I have a Fixed 6x Weaver, but Nosler is sending me a special addition 2.5-8x36mm VX-III made for Nosler and their custom rifles.
