My favorite thing about revolvers (over semiautos)
I am a revolver guy at heart, but I have been on an Autoloader kick lately. Been reading a lot more post about auto guns as a result. I noticed everytime I click on a thread about how great such-n-such semiauto is the first sentence is usually something like
"Went to the range today with my new gun and NOT ONE MALFUNCTION. It ate everything I fed it"
Never see this on the revolver threads for some reason.
Yet I hear alot about how far semiautos have come and reliabilty is not too much of an issue......but (and maybe it is just me) but it does seem like the first words of praise about an autoloader is reliabilty. Six shots without a stovepipe, FTF, or FTE sure beats 12 jams

Following that logic, you won't see many complaints about malfunctions on the "Guys who like to use wooden sticks for self defense" forums either...
No doubt revolvers have fewer moving parts and are inherently more reliable than pistols but I still prefer autos for what I do. Feel free to make your own choices.

What I like about revolvers is, you don't have to chase the brass. Also, most of the better models shoot much better than semi-autos out of the box.

As i said I have been on a semi auto kick lately and really like them. It just seems that is one of the main points of topics about them.
I like both though....this is just one advantage I feel revolvers have....and not chasing brass is another

Got about an even amount of each. Revolvers and Auto's each have their advantages and disadvantages. Just have to weigh each and decide which is right for you. It is a choice you have to live or die with if the situation comes up. Hopefully you'll just enjoy shooting them at the range, that's my wish for the day.

I have a fascination with S&W snub nose revolvers. Glocks and 1911's have their place but the snub nose has lots of fine features in very close quarters. There is just something classic about a k frame snub nose.

One should pick the best tool for the job at hand. As a private citizen practicing concealed carry I think something like a 642 S&W fits the bill perfectly. In contrast to me trying to protect life and escape the conflict if possible, LEO's can legally engage in pursuit so their needs are different.

I would tend to agree with that statement.

Re: My favorite thing about revolvers (over semiautos)
In my opinion, revolvers are definitively more intimidating. But the slim design, reliability, & easy carry of extra ammo of my 1911 was the deciding factor for me. I deeply regret getting rid of it, but my old Colt Anaconda with 8" barrel was the most intimidating thing I'd want pointed in my direction. It was a HOSS!

I have several of each.
But when I really, really (seriously really) want something that will go bang, bang, bang, bang, bang if necessary, I grab a revolver.

So do ya'll really have that much trouble out of your semi's? I can't remember the last time I had a 1911 fail.
Not much on holding it sideways gangsta style, so maybe this is part of the reason I have 100% reliability.
