I had some email exchanges with Philip Gunn, new Republican Speaker of the House, regarding passage of the Mississippi Castle Law a few years ago.

He was very supportive of the Castle Law and actually responded to me personally (not some assistant and not some automated "Thank you for your interest..." response.)

I think he is very conservative and will do a good job.

You can see bills he has offered here:

Some are rather interesting, like the one requiring continuing education for used car salesmen.

There will be no lame excuses now. No one can blame the demo's any longer. We'll just have to wait and see, and hold them accountable. If they don't do a good job, then throw them out as well.

Not sure I understand what you are saying but there will be a BIG difference (I think better) between Mccoy and Gunn. We will have more like minded chairmen, so a lot of good bills that used to die in the house will get through.

+1

A blogger I read who has some interesting things to say (in my opinion), likes to say "Democrats aren't the problem, and Republicans aren't the answer."

The underlying problem is that government (federal, state, county, or city) cannot satisfy all the people all the time.

So it becomes an issue of who they are willing to offend/ignore and who they are going to make happy.

Personally, I prefer that the government just do nothing in most cases and make everybody slightly unhappy.

I'm not looking for the Republicans to do anything much. The first rule should be, "Do no harm."

"Any politician who robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on getting Paul's vote."

The new "boys" in town better get some good conservative ideas implemented....

This sorta reminds me of when W first went in office....Boy did they drop the ball. They wanted to be luved and tried to get along...and I see Phil Bryant wanting to do that same thing.....

bs flag

Ram it home....break it off evil grin

Be hardcore...The State could use a real dose of conservatism now.

My fear is same ole...sale ole however
