Accuracy: Electronic or Balance Beam Type Scale
Which is more accurate, an electronic or balance beam type scale? I currently use an RCBS electronic scale with an RCBS ChargeMaster. Aren't both types of scales accurate to +/- 0.1 grains? I constantly check my electronic scale with check weights and it has always been accurate according to the weights. For long range (600 yard) competition shooting is one better than the other?

As you say, both are accurate to .1 grain. If you feel the need to jump to the next level and get a Prometheus.
Look at the link, it provides some statistical data on an RCBS 510 scale but not the charge master.

Caliber should be considered when asking if it matters at 600. .1 grains in a 338 Lapua is trivial, however in a .223 it's noticeable.

Re: Accuracy: Electronic or Balance Beam Type Scale
I use both depending on what I am loading for and quantity. I from time to time check my chargemaster against a balance beam,or another electronic for my own piece of mind. The chargemaster will routinely dispense and weigh charges within a tenth of a grain or less. As Phillip noted, a tenth of a grain in a cannon isn't decernable however less charge weight makes it more critical. A tenth of a grain of Varget on my chargemaster equates to about 2-4 kernals of powder. I am not a good enough shooter to be able to tell the difference of 2 or 4 kernals of powder at 100 or 600yds. I do however for the sake of consistency like to make sure there are no changes.
Until I can tell the difference is a kernal or two, I am going to concentrate my efforts on technique, breathing, and taking the correct caliber of rounds, for the rifle I am wanting to shoot at the match and such.
