Colt AR 15 quality.

Post by usssaump on Thu Nov 17, 2011 7:28 pm

I went and looked at a colt ar15 today. I was told and it was in the paper it was a preban. But when I got there it was not. The paper missed printed? But as I held it, it seemed so cheap. The back pin was so easily to push out. The barrel was and hand guard felt so small. I guess seen and felt some many big hand guards and rails. I passed on it.

Are you sure it was not an SP1 AR-15? SP1s are worth more $$$.

I knew a guy that had a Colt AR15 Match Target nd it would not stay under 5" at 100 yards. Colt would do nothing about it.

I can't stand when I pick up a AR and it rattles and feels loose.

Did you get one of those "buffer blocks" to stop the movement from the lower to the upper. Rectangular shape, rubber. Fits right there where rear disconnect pin goes (never seen one but shot a few colts that could use it).

Got to put in my two cents for Rock River. Built tight as heck. Very accurate as issued. Just got one this fall, and could not be more pleased.

If you are wanting to compete in highpower shooting you did well to pass. To be competitive one must have a good trigger and a free float tube, Colt has neither. Then there is the wrong size pin issue and if you change the trigger it has to be made for a Colt.

Lots of issues compared to others, only positive is the horse on the receiver.

I'm satisfied with my 1968 SP1. I'll admit I don't shoot it much but goes bang and MOA, and that's with me shooting it.

Had a couple of mine stolen in 1981...never have been recovered. Sad
