The 10/22 has made me mad and needs to be replaced .

Post by deerhunter86 on Sat 19 Nov 2011 - 2:14

The 10/22 has made me angry too many times and is going to be replaced by Somthing new and shinny in the next week or 2 while I'm home . I'm thinking savage bolt action . Accuracy is my main priority . I want to b able to pick turtle heads off the pond at 100 yards . I like accu triggers and want Somthing I'm able to tote around squirrel hunting . Which savage you recomend. Not a fan of blue steel . Already have a 17 need a new 22 .

If it has to be a Savage and you want to squirrel unt with it I would go with one of the base models like the Mark II Camo, F or G. As for mot liking blued steel a Dura-Coat job will take care of that.

If I were buying it would be the FV-SR. But that is just me.

Every child needs a good home with a loving family to fully develop. I'm sure there's a "foster" family that would be willing to take care of your "child". Smile

the only differences between that model and my fvxp is the bolt handle , scope mount and my barrel is not threaded. Very accurate gun, mine loves cci standard velocity. Easily the most accurate gun I own right now.

Yes. They make 10rd mags.
Ive got the cheapest one with a heavy barrel and it loves SK Standard Plus ammo. I tested 36 different brands and they shot the best and silly quiet with the suppressor. I mainly got it for squirrel hunting and such.
It has no problem holding 1.5" groups at 100yds. On a windless day it stays under 1" which is better than alot of my bolt action center fires.
I think it was only $210? I love it.
Still have 2 10/22s but they are used more for night time and goofing off.

I looked at a Nikon Pro Staff BDC Rimfire. Might be my next piece of glass.

Savage makes a fine rifle...no problems with mine

I'm trying to build up a little 22 inventory for the Hinds Cty 4H team...so if you'd be interested in selling that 10/22...I might be interested...believe it or not I sold mine a couple years ago because I'm mainly a bolt action fan...

But as a "coach" now I gotta be able to adapt to what kids can hold comfortably.

shoot me a pm if you are interested

Na I'd sell my clothes before I'd sell a gun . 3x9 is the smallest I wood go on a scope for anything . I was shooting turtle heads today in a pond with the 10 22. We shot Probily 300 rounds between me and my cousin in about a hour and a half . I'm glad his old hi standard pump was giving him more problems than my ruger. They were everywhere in a small pond . Bolt only hung up everyother shot and everytime I ran out of bullets in the clip .

Hay deerhunter86,
That sound's kind of like a older model 10/22, they are good for about 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch at 50 yard's . The latest model that Ruger is making is doing 3/4 inch group's. The newest one's has only Ruger and Co. on them now instead of Strum & Ruger and Co.? The last couple I work on was the new model which is built tighter than the old one's. We have taking these rifle's (factory rifle's)and tuned them up for benchrest in the sporter class, we are getting .350's out of them so far, using Wolf ME & MT ammo.YBRF Rambo

no mater what brand, I would recommend you find a .22 MAGNUM rifle. shoots flat at accurate at 100 yards.

100 yards Is a close shot for a 22. I have a 22 mag and a 17 cost to much to shoot .If my gun and scope ever gets in I'll let y'all no if it shoots better than the 10 /22 . The 10/22 only jammed about 10 times in 50 shots today . And accuracy was alittle better .
