1:7 .223 Bolt Gun

Post by jbpmidas on Sat Nov 19, 2011 6:54 pm

Is Savage the only manufacturer that makes a 1:7 .223? I haven't seen a Remington barrelled with that twist.

Don't know an answer to your question other than an AR but will ask what would you be using it for and what grain bullet would be optimal? I like savage, what fault do you see in them or is it just a matter of taste? Educate the uneducated.

I like Savages. I'm just wondering what options are out there.

I'd like to shoot 80 A-Max's or 90's.

No I haven't. It seem like I saw one in the Remington Custom Shop, though.

kreiger , brux and others make the 1/7 but if planning on shooting 90 vld are any other of the heavy bullets i would go with the 1 in 6.5 twist savage does make a 1 in 7 i have a savage 1-9 with the accustock that i have pulled the barrel and rechambered with match reamer and throated for 69 grain matchking and it shoots very good groups need to try it at 600 its still a factory barrel so i dont expect much

I like that setup! If I find a Remington 700 1:9, may get you to give it that treatment! I like the 69's and 77's!
