Savage /vs Remington 700
What is opinion of which rifle is better. Which rifle is better the Savage or the Remington? I've owned both and I like the Remington, but Savage has made some changes to their rifle and I would like to know if Savage has topped the Remington.

I like both of them, but I like the Savage option compared to remington. It is very hard to beat the accuracy of a Savage out of the box.

I have a savage and several remingtons. My savage has an accutrigger. Some folks like them. Some folks hate them. I strongly suggest trying one before buying one. I by far love my savage over any of my remingtons. It shoots better by far. Remington makes a great gun just the same. Chooses which ever one you like best.

I like the Savage, they've really been in Remington's wallet. With good reason.

savage vs remington
i own ALOT of remingtons... 700's a 40x or two, and some model 7's.......... if you are buying new, i would lean towards the savage...... i still will buy older remingtons, but the new ones, i have purchased one or two,,,,,, not happy with their accuracy, sent my first rifle back to remington last week, was hard pressed to keep a five shot group in an 10 inch circle at 100 yards...... with a 7mm-08!!! (lss mountain rifle) do some research, shoulder some rifles and check fit and feel before any purchase............. but right now, if i buy new, savage will probably be my next purchase, i know way to many people who love um......

Re: Savage /vs Remington 700
Well ya'll can say what you will....but I got Savage's and I got Remington's....All I knew about when I grew up was a Remington shotgun...never had to shoot them fancy Browning's and such....so I'm a Remington Bigot I guess
aint none of the Savages as smoooooooth as my Remington's
That said...If I was gonna go buy one off the shelf right now....I'd say it would be a Savage...beware the accutriggers...they aint all they cracked up to be...most of em I see in F class have been "neutered"...Only issue I'm aware off...plenty accurate
This is like debating Ford vs Chevy

I have a couple of 30 year old Remingtons that are great rifles, however I shoot F-Class with a Model 12 Savage right out of the box that shoots way better than I can. This is my 4th Savage. Savage has come a long way in the last few years

Re: Savage /vs Remington 700
Only solution I have before hunting is to flip a coin.... have 2 Savages and 3 Remmy 700's..... All very smooth, very accurate, 4 killers and the 3rd Rem soon to be...... I'm not shooting competition or long range, so I can't speak for that...
I have, however, traded away a third Savage in 308 due to accuracy issues.... couldn't get a 3" group with any ammo, any wt., at 100yds....

Been a Remington man all my life, however one of the most impressive, out of the box rifle groups (4 shots one hole came from a savage 7mm rem mag)

I have a Rem 700, 28" varmint barrel, 308win, adjustable trigger, I put a full aluminum embeded Hogue stock on it, and a Falcon scope. Using gold match Federal, I have hit .7moa at 250yds using a bipod on it. Next stage at our range is 350 yds.
The Hogue stock really tamed the recoil compared to the Rem stock.

Re: Savage /vs Remington 700
I LOVE reading these kinda threads!!
Ive got a couple savages and a couple remingtons.
All of them shoot great.
My savage 110 with a factory model 112 300wm barrel out shoots everything i have.
I really like savage cause i can swap barrels and calibers very easy.

Re: Savage /vs Remington 700
I had both but don't have either now. Had a Savage 114 American Classic in 300wm and it was a really nice rifle. I also had a Remmy 700 BDL in 300 saum. I had a trigger job done on the 700 and it would out shoot the Savage and it's Accu Trigger. I thought the action was better on the 700 than the Savage too.
Re: Savage /vs Remington 700
I just happen to have a rem 700 for sale haha. Anyone?
