Near Twins

Post by 22lrfan on Mon 21 Nov 2011 - 22:57

These things are coming out of the woodworks and they keep following me home (it's actually Joe's fault, I'm trying to catch up to him in Marlin leverguns). I posted last Friday about my new toy, a Marlin 1894 in .357. I walked into a pawn shop today and it's twin was there and looking lonely. I couldn't leave the poor thing sitting there so now I've got near matching Marlin 1894's in .357. The one I got last week was an 1981 model and this one is a 1982. I was suprised when I took the pictures that there were differences in the two models. The front and rear of the receivers where they meet the wood are shaped differently, the loading gates are different and one trigger is gold the other is blue. This one isn't in as good of condition as the other one but I can live with that. The '81 model is the top one in the photos.

As do I. You got a good eye, there ain't more that 5-10 degrees difference where the receiver mates up. Nice looking rifles.

The recievers should be identical. The 82 is obviously defective and should be disposed of. I'll take care of it for you.

Defective!!! I prefer to think rare. Now I've got to get some more so I'll know which one is the oddball. bouncing smile

Joe, there's one on marlinowners but it's got a stinkin' safety. You need to whip out that plastic and get it headed this way.
