Hey SubGunFan,

Thanks for your suggestion about slowing down. I have a tendency to go "hog wild." Always have. I've decided to focus this energy into getting my Class III license so I can purchase samples. If I'm going to go crazy, I may as well do it right.

Do you own or have access to a commercial building? Good chance BATFE will require it to approve your 01 FFL. Once you get your 01, the 03 SOT is just paperwork and $500. HINT: Apply for your 03 SOT right after the month of July. The 03 SOT runs on a FY of July to July, and BATFE doesn't prorate the cost.

Getting your 03 SOT would be wise for your "new" interest in FAs. The very first gun I would buy is a postie M16. You should be able to buy one for under $1000. Plus, you might soon discover..... SUPPRESSORS... Smile

Not sure down here, but back in Illinois where I'm from ya don't need a commercial building for a 01. A guy operates a shop out of his house. Not sure if they will let ya operate a 03 SOT out of your house though.

It's all about zoning. If your house is not zoned for commercial business then you can't get a business license. With no business license you can't have an ffl.

The key is.......... when did he get his 01 FFL? In the old days BATFE handed out 01s like candy. I had one in the 80s, but mainly for powder and primers (yes, 01s were required to buy mail order powder and primers back then). I had a small reloading "business" (only local shooters) and had to log in ALL ammo sales then. GOOD thing we don't have to do that CRAP now. You older guys might remember having to show a DL to buy a box of 22s at WalMart.

I second Vegas's advice - it's not hard, he's forgotten more about transferable machineguns than I'll ever know. I think I'm close to getting my MAX-11 and MAX-22 running the way I want and I just pulled the trigger on a RR M16 (actually AR15 conversion).

Between those two guns I think I'll be set for life full-auto wise. They're versatile enough to get played with in lots of ways. The only other thing I might eventually want is an HK registered box, but that's years down the road, if ever.
