Savage Recoil Pad Breaking Down....

Post by TomBomb on Mon Nov 28, 2011 9:09 pm

Anyone else have any issues with their Savage rifle factory recoil pad getting soft and tearing?

The factory recoil pad does an AWESOME job, so I hate to replace it with anything else, but I can't find a line for a genuine Savage replacement pad...what have ya'll used? Or is the Savage pad actually manufactured by another company? (It is the simple 2 screw mounted style.)

This is for a Model 11 in 300WSM. Thanks.

Mine had a piece get torn off, a small 3/4" section at the bottom. I super glued it back on (looks better than anticipated too) but that is a temporary fix until I find a real solution...so I will be watching this thread for advice.

I am trying to talk myself into an aftermarket stock, but that is another story.

The recoil pad is very effective...but apparently fragile too...

Limbsaver has a direct replacement recoil pad.

Bubba, I thought there should be a direct replacement, but guess I haven't found the right "store" who has the correct model pad for this gun.... I just hope the aftermarket is as good as the original.... It really is amazing how well it works. hmmmmmm.... looking for superglue.....have the 2 small pieces that tore off....

The top corner of mine tore off from sitting on it in the gun safe at an angle. I was speculating on what to buy, and decided I would call Savage. Two days later I had a brand new pad from Savage free of charge. Excellent customer service. I love that pad, but I'm afraid it might not last too long, because it is so soft.
