Nebo lights...

Post by Joe S. on Tue 29 Nov 2011 - 13:17

thought i had a thread out here somewhere about these lights that CalebC and Bunkerhill are selling. guess i didnt.

anyway, Nebo makes a great light. been using them for some time now. i picked up a Blueline from Caleb today, and last time he was selling, i got a redline and a shotgun light. these are sturdy lights and are nice and bright. the blue line takes a single AA battery. the redline has a battery pack. these have held up well for me. here is the blue line with my old trusty pocket Nebo and some whiteout for size comparison. compact enough to forget you have it in your pocket but as bright as my 4D maglight and Surefire. my ol mag hardly ever gets used unless it is all i have handy. the surefire doesnt get used much because the batteries are so costly... this Nebo gives me the best of both worlds. inexpensive batteries but good bright lighting.

here is a quote from my other thread... i knew i had made a post before. lol

Joe S. wrote:Got in on the group buy of Nebo flashlights CalebC was offering through Bunker Hill and picked them up yesterday at lunch. Got home last night and played with em a little bit.

The shotgun light (Nebo Protec) is cool. It has the cord or standard activation as included options. Nice and bright (I think 110 lumens) and has four settings: strobe, laser, laser/ light and light. The mount is nice and solid and clamps tight. I attached it to my M1 carbine barrel and it was a little loose. Then I attached it to my ruger m77 barrel and it fit pretty good. Tried to mount it to the scope, and just couldn’t get it to go. So then I mounted it to the 870 barrel (doesn’t have an extended mag) and it clamped down nice and secure. The cable activation is easy to install and operate and I think it will be a nice thing to have, should the need ever arise. My main reservations with both lights are the battery packs. It hold (3) AAA batteries in a little plastic "case" that slides into the body of the light. These cases in lights I have had in the past just havent held up that well. I like Nebo lights though and I have found they are well made, so hopefully these cases will be well made as well...

Next up is the tactical light (Nebo Redline). This one is neat. It has rear activation and has a magnetic ring around the back so it will attach solid to any metal surface. This one will toggle through 3 brightness settings from a max of 220 lumens down to about 30% power, and has an SOS mode, and strobe. It is easy to operate and like most Nebo lights, this one has the aggressive self defense face on the front. Oh and it also adjusts from flood to spot, and it do cast a LARGE beam on flood…
Here is a pic next to my ol trusty Surefire

Cant wait to see how these hold up.

Here is an older single "AA" Nebo I've carried for a year or so and my tough as nails old Gerber knife I have had for about 6 years now. Cant lose them el cheap knives. Lol

I should have the Protec 190 and the blue line when I get home this evening. Looking forward to checking them out.

*update*

Got em this evening. The first thing I noticed was they both came with batteries. Pretty rare. The Blue Line is a two stage, on/strobe, and zoomable. 130 Lumens. and that glowing blue ring. Also a GITD button, and mag base.

The Protec, is outstanding! I would say it is a true 190 Lumens. Not overrated like you sometimes see. The beam is strong and far reaching, and enough spill to fill the room.

The base is solid, and the controls are well within reach. One thing I can say is it fits SNUG. My SR9c rail is not quite long enough for it to snap in place, but it is not coming off.
The only negative is a couple of sharp corners near the trigger guard. I rounded these off, and it is good to go.

I picked one of the 190 lumen PROTEC lights up yesterday from Caleb C. Very nice light! After I figured out there was a barely there clear plastic wrap around the battery, it worked great! Bright! I turned off my bedroom and bathroom lights and shined the light. It lit up most of both rooms! Inexpensive made it a worthwhile purchase. Fits very snugly on my Glock 34, but it will end up on another pistol later in life. Definately would recommend it.

Great looking lights. I guess I never got over my fear of the dark, because I love good flashlights! Smile

Where are you buying these, and how much would that shotgun light run? I need one for the ol' Mossberg.
