No you can't touch our guns

Post by 9c4me on Tue Nov 29, 2011 3:44 pm

On a recent visit to NY state I went into a Gander Mountain store to look around and was kinda surprised at the large selection of handguns.

I asked the clerk if I could look at one and he asked "Do you have a NY state permit?", Nope. "Sorry, you can look through the glass but can't touch them, state law." Gee with all those trigger-locks which are also probably the law what are they (politicians) afraid of happening? Can't have people handling guns that are for sale. I wonder how many they actually sell, and noticed they have 10 round max on magazines. Goofy liberal police-state, also saw a commercial stating that recycling is the law, separate and recycle your trash or else! roll eyes

Been to ny city once, years ago. No desire whatsoever to go back. That said, really dont have much desire to go to gander mountain either after hearing about their prices.

There must be a reason why that counter is completely empty of customers....or employees. When I was at the Hattiesburg Gander Mtn., you could barely get to the counter and they had 6 people behind the counter. Thank you MS!

Mostly surprised they had pistols at all. Can't buy one and have it sent to your FFL I guess. Like Joe said, I have no desire to go to NY or CA again. Last time I went to CA, I checked in a firearm for the plane trip. Never would again. If I'd been pulled pulled over, I guess I'd spent the rest of my sorry azz there.

They can have over 10 round mags if they are "pre ban". Determining the manufacture date may be problematic for them though.

I know of several gun/pawn shops in Mississippi where they won't let you touch a handgun if you are not a Mississippi resident.

I lived in New Jersey for three years back in the early 90's. Don't know what their gun laws were then, but I kept a .38 in the glove box. I know you can't pump yer own gas there, some union thing. Their state troopers dress like SS. As for Kalifornia, they told me when I was a kid that it would one day fall into the ocean. What's the hold-up? thinking crazy

I had 5 preban PWA lowers I posted for sale on another forum and sold everyone of them to residents of NY in about 30 min for 650 each. Makes you appreciate MS gun laws!

Stay out of communist countries like NY and Cali if you can. They favor the attackers over the victims every time.

Doug, you may not have been born here but you are a naturalized citizen. Tip of the hat for getting out of NY.

Have you guys ever seen the movie "brave one". Anyway I was in the gunshop in NYC that was filmed in the movie they had 0 guns on display. And they only had 3 locked in a vault. I asked what they had they asked if I had a NY permit at the time I had a FFl and said I had a piece of paper in my wallet that trumps a NY permit its called a FFL. They had 2 glocks and a riot shotgun they said they mainly sold to Leo. Unless they had a special order. When I saw the movie every case was full and the wall was lined with long guns. It made me laugh cause I had been in that very gun shop and believe me it was a joke.Im proud to be from the south because those people up north are funny about guns but there was shootings every night I wonder if the shooters had NY gun permit. I guess NY is doing a good thing by letting criminals only have guns. It's unbelievable what law abiding citizens have to go through up there. Can't even protect themselves if they even have a gun it has to have a gun lock on it even in their house. So I guess the criminals are supposed to allow the gunowners to get his gun unlock it then load it. I know I'm happy to be a Mississippi boy for sure.

I went into a sporting goods/gun store in Cambridge, MA back in 2003. It was the only gun store in town. He said they had pushed all the other ones out but he refused to give in. The guns were in a separate room and you had to have a MA permit to even look at them. I had a copy of my dads FFL with me so he let me in. Ended up buying 3 nice old .22 rifles.
