Got another one for ya'll
A buddy from here in MS was at the Nashville gun show this weekend. he had a model 12 shotgun he was looking to move. He had a dealer looking at it. the dealer told him that he could not sell his gun to an individual because he was from out of state. My buddy told him he was wrong. the dealer told him to look at the card he was given when he walked in the show. It said that no one from out of state could buy or sell from or to an individual at the show, only from/to dealers. My buddy said whatever, he'll just sell his shotgun at the big tulsa show, the dealer told him he would be illegal if he sold it to an individual there also. Thoughts?

Sorry it's true.
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html
Federal law allows the sale of a long gun or a handgun between private parties of the same state as long as the purchaser is 18 years of age or older. An individual who does not possess a federal firearms license may not sell a modern firearm to a resident of another state without first transferring the firearm to a dealer in the purchaser's state.

I didn't realize that either. Some of the best deals at gun shows are from individuals walking around with guns.

That's why I show my MS DL to someone I am buying or selling with. Kind a hint like "I showed you I was legal, now show me you are". They kind of take that to the letter at the ATF. Ain't bought or sold any firearm that is a good enough deal for me to risk my right to own a firearm.

What if you are giving a gun to someone? A relative lives in LA and wants to give a gun to a relative in MS? No transfer of money.
