Target height
Here's the proposition:
A 22 rimfire bullet of 40 grains (BC.157) exits the muzzle at 1050 f/s from a rifle held 60" above grade.
At what height does a target need to be set so that the bullet striking it at 100 yards impacks the bottom of a berm 200 yards from the muzzle?
Thanks

Re: Target height
Next time we are at the range, remind me of this ... we can do some measurements of our 22 F-Class target frames and calculate from there. We built them after some impact testing; however, we were shooting prone and not from the bench ....
The real problem at Magnolia in using basic ballistic data is that the firing line is elevated so that must be taken into consideration ....

Just estimating, but I'd say prone at Magnolia would be about 48" - 60" elevation. A target 5' - 6' high should be in the ballpark.

I took this into consideration when estimating 60" as aiming height above grade (includes a 30" high bench plateform, another 6" for rifle rest and 24" as the dropoff). I could be off a skosh or three.

Re: Target height
Center of target needs to be 5.5' minimum.

Re: Target height
A .22 RF rifle sighted in at 100 yards has to be elevated 18" more at 100 yards to strike center at 200 yards. It will be 36" low at 200 when sighted in at 100,
