I was shooting #8 birdshot that day for the stages we were shooting for two reasons. The 590 is a punisher on your shoulder w/buckshot, and its cheaper for just shooting. The shells in the side saddle are what I keep it loaded with and look good on the gun all blacked out. They are Winchester PDX1 Supreme Elite 12Ga 2 3/4". The ones that have the slug with 3 buckshot pellets in one shell. Awesome! They are black from top to bottom. 10 rds are $12.95 at WalMart.

I also have a 590, it is pretty tough on the shoulder with 00 buck. But I love the gun.
