Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle...
Anyone had their hands on one of these? I've never owned a Ruger rifle but I like the way this one looks.

Sweet gun. I haven't fired one yet but have handled one plenty and if its anything like any of the other Ruger products I have owned its going to be a fine offering. Also the Scout rifle concept to me is just a great medium range rifle w/more options than most bolt rifles. I want one too!

I own one and love it. Ruger now makes magazines for it (3 rd, 5 rd, and 10 rd) and they are around 26-28 each. They are very good and strong. The '98 action is super strong. Also, XS system makes a full rail system for it.
I like the Jeff Cooper scout concept. For a survival or SHTF rifle, it is prime. The only changes would be a high grade syn. stock (the wood is too nice) and the peep sight hole should be larger - more like a ghost sight.

My local gunshop will finance 12 months same as cash. I told them if they could get one I'd buy it. Still waiting.

Review I read showed pretty marginal accuracy. 1.5"@100 was the best I think. Lots of semi auto's can do that.

Mine is much more accurate than that. The reviews ive seen that accuracy reported from has been with low power scout scopes and id bet its more the shooter than the gun. 1.5" aint bad at 100 with a 2.5x scope IMO

That's good to hear. While the whole scout rifle isn't intended to be a sniper rifle there are too many MOA guns on the market to worry with one that is closer to 2 MOA. My ruger guns have always been pretty good shooters and it's good to see this one fall in line. Any have comPosite stocks?

Put my hands on one, yesterday, and really liked it... for a Ruger. Also found a Savage that would work, for half the price.

Savage has been making one. Although, Savage's version does not have the detachable mag, does it?

And it is now gone. If anybody knows where a right handed scout is hiding I'm in the market for one.
