Gary's in West Point has one for full MSRP 799+ tax. I think I'll wait for one of my local gunshops to get one in. Vans said the price on one should be about 750 so I know I can save a few bucks over suggested retail.

I had one. The "newness' wore off after a few months and I moved it down the road. Accuracy was poor by my standards but plenty good enough for a deer getter.

I didn't like the scout scope concept as I had to squint to see through it that far away and just mounted one in the conventional manner.

like the scout idea but Ruger introduced these a little late. hadalready picked up a m1a scout. but would like to setup a couple more rifles scout style. I think a .357 lever action would make for a nice scout style rifle.

Got one for $800 out the door recently. Not yet broken in but it will shoot into less than 1 inch with 168gr SMK at 100 yards. The recoil pad is very good and the felt recoil is less than on my 20" SPS tactical with a B&C stock. I also mounted a regular scope (Redfield 3x9). So far it shoots good out to 300 yards.

I like mine. Need a couple of the new polymer mags. I mainly bought mine as I wanted a carbine length bolt action in 308 with iron sights. It fit the bill perfectly.

For any one looking, there is a regular Ruger M77 Scout rifle, in 7mm-08, with a 4?-9x50 Buckmaster scope on Facebook.

They're asking $625 and are also looking for trades.

That would be the frontier. Nice. But not the scout. Its a compact that uses a #1 style forward rail

So Vans called me today and ask me if I was still looking for a Ruger Gunsite Scout. I told the girl that I was still looking and I would buy it if they could get me the 12 month same as cash deal. That's the way I buy my new guns most of the time. Never had a problem getting approved and I don't have to come out of my pocket with a lump sum. Before we got too far into the conversation I ask about the price. I had been quoted a price of 750 plus tax. Now the price is 799 plus tax because they are hard to get. I told her it wasn't my problem that they were hard to get and that I'd give 750 plus tax. Well, to make a short story even shorter I'm still looking for a Scout. Eventually I'll come across one at the price I'm wanting to pay. Might have to come out of hip pocket national but that's OK too.

Admittedly, the Savage is a very good gun. But it is limited to 4 round mag capacity, and does not have the flash suppressor or picatinny rail. I think the Ruger recoil pad is a bit better as well. Yes, the Savage would do very nicely, for less money. But I want the Ruger and plan to get one when Bud's get's them back in.

I do however, want a Savage 93R17 FXP .17 HRM. CTD's last price before going out of stock was $244. Hope it doesn't go up much, if any. Might have to get one from Bud's for $267 with free shipping.

Ruger made their mistake in not making it w/ a M-14 mag well. The M14's mags are great and easier to find online. If not for that, I'd be all over one. Very balanced gun (held Joe S.'). Still time to change.

Yea but it's still a bolt action. Doesn't necessarily need a 20 round mag. They have polymer mags now that are a little but shorter but still hold 10 rounds. I like mine alright but I don't ever see myself shooting it a whole bunch. Bought it cause it's got iron sights but my LASIK eye surgery I had 8 years ago has started to wear off and. Y eyesight isn't that great for irons. I'm not a big scope kind of person, maybe I'll slap my Aimpoint on it.

I'm older and more prone to bruising now, but I just can't imagine not wanting to shoot a GSR a lot. I don't mean AR 5.56 kind of a lot, but more than three or four rounds a sitting. I used to shoot at least a whole box every time I took my Remington 700 to the range. It did not take that to sight it in, or check to see if it was sighted in, I just enjoyed shooting it. I dreamed of have a box mag for it so I did not have to reload those short .308 shells several times while at the range. 'Tis one of the reasons I want a GSR so much. And I do love .308, 'tis my favorite rifle caliber. '2 cents'

I shoot it 20-30 times per range trip. Love it. But for toting thru the woods, that 10 rd mag jabs ya in the ribs. Smile

Someone was shooting one at the MSSA F-Class match yesterday. I don't know how they fared, but I did see it on the line.
