New Albany Tragedy

Post by ckdeaton on Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:37 pm

Please keep the Price family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. For those that aren't familiar with the story, the New Albany football coach's wife was shot and killed in their own back yard last night. Coach Price was also shot but lived. His wife Amanda stepped out to let the dog out and saw a man in the backyard. She screamed and the man shot her. Coach Price came out to see what was going on and was also shot. The shooter is still at large.

Man that's pretty bad. If the guy just came into the yard and shot them, almost sounds like a hit. Interested to see where this story goes.

This is truly a tragedy in my home town. I do not personaly know the Price family but have many mutual friends. Where this happened is not a mile from where I grew up and my mother still lives there. Please pray for this family and community.
I have changed my avatar to the Bulldog ribbon and will leave it up until the POS who did this is brought to JUSTICE.
I would greatly appreciate it if some of you could also post this ribbon as your avatar.

God is Love: A message of peace during a truly dark hour
Upon hearing the news of the tragedy that struck the lives of the New Albany head football coach Ron Price and his family, like many I was overcome by emotion.

... Disbelief evolving to anger. Anger turning into frustration. Frustration leading to desperation, but amidst all the negative one powerful emotion seemed to continuously grow in strength…

love.

No matter if you interacted with them daily or never had the privilege of knowing the Price family everyone exhibited love for a friend, love for a family, love for one another and love for a community upon hearing the news Monday night.

It’s an emotion that took me back to the first time Coach Price introduced me to his wife Amanda.

It was midway through New Albany’s magical run to their 13-1 season. He introduced me as “the guy that put all the pressure on us by picking us to go to Jackson” before we enjoyed a brief conversation not dealing with the first thing about football.

As I walked away, I was left with a feeling of love.

A love between a husband and wife, love shared amongst a family and genuine love because I could tell they truly care about me… not because I picked them to win, but a true Christ-like love. A feeling that many shared when coming in contact with the Price family and it’s the same outpouring of love that is being shown for their family and those touched by this tragedy.

1 John 4:8 says “God is love” and while I can’t speak for anyone I almost certain that is the message that they would want us to take from this moment of darkness.

The Price family was a shining beacon of the goodness that comes from a close walk with the Lord.

It started in a coach with a dream of not just winning games but shaping the lives of young men in a positive Christ-like manner which eventually spread throughout a community and now albeit through heartache is spreading amongst an entire region.

We may not understand it and in times like these often question it, but God’s plan is always perfect.

From the ashes of despair comes comfort and peace for our God is an awesome God.

Adam Gore is the author of this.
There is nothing I can add.
Please keep this family in your prayers.

Thanks John

Any more news on this? All I am getting is yesterday's report.

What kind of neighborhood was it in? It's hard for me to imagine how this happened.

I know the zombies are eventually going to come into our middleclass neighborhoods, but this does not sound like a typical break-in burglary.

They are getting brave, though. I know a guy who lives in a safe area near Vicksburg. He heard a noise in his garage one night recently (he had left the door open) and went out to check.

It was a guy stealing stuff with the homeowner and his wife in the house.

There is no safe area, that's just a perception.

Yeah, should have said, "relatively safe area."

Some areas are less safe than others.

Compare downtown Jackson to out by the reservoir, for example.

Bad stuff can happen anywhere.

Too bad he didn't resist. From what I am hearing from the local folks it's open and shut. I wonder what famous lawyer will step up to defend this POS.

At night, when I walk out to my shop in my back yard, my SIG P6 is with me. I do not go very many places without it. I know I would use it if needed.

I hope they put the needle in his arm. I wish for far worse but know it can't happen. Recently at about 2:30am someone rang my doorbell. I went to the door with my 686 S&W and before I opened the door I made up my mind that I didn't want any trouble but if trouble came I was going to do everything in my power to end it. I answered with my pistol behind my right hip. When I opened the door there was a very large drunk guy who was out of gas. I offered the use of my cell phone and that was it. Evidently he called for reinforcements with his own because they came and got him a little later. It's getting worse everywhere and a person better realize trouble can happen anywhere.
