Mil-spec lower and a dedicated, threaded upper. Most accurate and perfect muscle-memory trainer

Bensand, I got a Plum Crazy lower and am now looking for an upper (probably be a month or so down the line. Didn't want any of the complete .22 AR's out there. None are really duplicates of an AR, I do think S&W comes as close as anyone though. The barrel on the S&W is not threaded in case you want a flash suppressor or silencer.

You can get the S&W with a threaded barrel now. They used to not be, but the only ones that aren't now are the Cali and Mass models. They coms stock with a flash hider already installed, but it can be unscrewed for a can.

The best AR style 22 is the S&W M&P15-22. Look at the MOE version. It is very nice.

I prefer the Sig 522 over the M&P but the 522 isn't an AR style and until recently didn't come with any sights. The 522 uses Black Dog magazines.

I just got one of these: http://shop.nordiccomp.com/NC22-Upper-Receiver-Assemblies_c21.htm

Specifically the 18" .750" SST Barrel (threaded), with Rifle Length Hand Guard. I haven't even shot it yet, as it's supposed to be a Christmas present. They aren't cheap, but from what I've read and been told by a few buddies with them, they are great and among the better dedicated uppers out there, being accurate and very reliable. They use Black Dog mags as well. I'll try to remember to post a review of sorts after I shoot it some.

Will do. I'd take some pics now but it is currently wrapped. Ha.

I am looking forward to shooting it. For what it's worth, JP Enterprises has sold in the past a fully built .22 AR, and they used the Nordic upper claiming they "have shot most of the 22 LR conversions on the market and feel that the new Nordic Components rim fire action is the most reliable." See: http://www.jprifles.com/1.2.15_22LR.php

I just hope they aren't blowing smoke with that comment! I know Tactical Solutions and Model 1 sales, among others, make dedicated .22 uppers that are also well thought. Nordic is a small company and has occasionally sold out temporarily, which I think is the reason JP is not currently offering their version. I noticed two of the Nordic models aren't available right now, and with the current discount they are likely to be sold out of everything again soon. The only thing I wish they have that they don't is a front sight mount of some sort. I'll mostly shoot it with an optic on top, but it would be nice to be able to use A3 irons from time to time.

I have a Spikes Tactical ST-22 and love it. You can find uppers on AR15.com from time to time.

Here is a review I googled:

i love my s&w15-22 rifle. i almost backed out of the purchase because of its plastic feeling frame, but it is great. its light and fun to shoot. i use a can on mine and its very quiet.

if you are wanting something heavy like an M16 or AR15 then go with the Colt or buy a dedicated upper for your AR.

It depends on your use. Accuracy speaks and compass lake engineering make the most accurate uppers but they cost a little over a grand. http://www.compasslake.com/22uppers.htm
