IMO.... I don't think they should have ever cut the SS tax funding. They say SS will be losing money in a few years even before the cut.

DemocRATS want to spend NOW. Republicans save for the FUTURE....

I think it is because it will add $180 billion to the debt and not add 1 single job. Plus I think that the Dem's are wanting to use "NEW" money not what had already been allocated in the "so called" stimulus plan. That plus the fact they (the democrats) are against opening up that oil pipeline, that would add jobs. ET AL.

I am neither Rep nor Dem... they both suck.

The Reps are doing nothing to "lame duck" the president. This is politics. The reps need to destroy him. The Dem's are playing politics as well, they need to buy votes with dollars, especially votes that are "dole" votes.

That all said, my beliefs are that the government should collect taxes to pay for expenditures ( versus printing money, the current way to pay for said expenditures). Realize that I do also think expenditures are currently extravagant.

They already collect MORE than enough taxed to run the federal govt responsibly...key word being responsibly. Both parties have wasted OBSCENE amount of money. They need to slash govt. spending now, and cut the sheer SIZE of the federal govt. by at least 1/3! I agree they also need to quit printing money like it was Monopoly $$...that's just stupid!

There are many programs that can be cut out all together, and if our socialist in chief had kept his word...they would already be eliminating waste and fraud in Medicare, medicade, and SS . Too bad the only promise he has attempted to keep is to fundamentally change the USA...something the vast majority of Americans DON'T want.

I don't want to start a political war here but we are taxed enough already(sorry). It's the waste in gov. that needs to be eliminated. i agree it is the democrats and some of the republicans that are only concerned with keeping their job instead of doing the right thing. But having said that, the democrats have got to realize that the spending has got to stop.I feel you are wrong to blame the republicans in trying to make him a lame duck president, the president is not trying to reach across the aisle to give on anything. this is one of the reasons Clinton's term worked so well is because he did reach across the aisle, albeit because he had to since it was a republican run house and senate.I am an EXTREME conservative, but realize we do need a few democrats to keep the republicans in check.

Agreed. I've been putting about the same amount in a 401K for 25 years as I have in SS for 34. I will get several times more from my 401k (won't talk about the behind whipping I been getting) as I will SS. And when I die, the money for my 401 will pass on to my heirs, nada for SS. The Republican's self directed accounts were laughed at. I guess the Dem.'s know their constituents, they could not manage a $20 bill much less their SS account.
