Re: Mil surp powders
It has been many years, but I had good results. A few months ago I bought an 8# jug of WC846 ball powder for 308 and others.

The J&G Brothers (Doc Rocker & TURKEE). Not sure if they have any more, but check with them. They have started buying powder by the 40# keg to keep their WWII toys running......

I have bought and loaded lots and lots of surplus powder from Jeff Barnett (gibrass.com). Everything from IMR 4895 to a bullseye equivalent. I've never had any problems with any of it. I would caution you to work your loads up slowly due to differences in manufacture. Hit me up if you need more info.

I, too, bought a jug of 846. (@ gunshow $90.) What I've read so far while trying to find some load data is that it varies considerably from lot to lot, and you need to restart development with each new batch. Don't know how true that is, but I don't have that kind of time. Just sitting on mine for now.

I will give you your money back for it.. I just want it to send 150 gr pills down range. If it hits the target that's just bonus lol

If you're heading up this way, let me know and we'll work it out. Never opened.
Widener's has it, but then you've got the HazMat to deal with.

Re: Mil surp powders
Ive used a bunch of 844 and 846.
I did learn the hard way bout working up a load with each new keg.
Blowin primers and locking up my AR up one night. Had to get a hammer and a punch to get it back in workin condition.

I've been using 846 as my short line ammo, 200 and 300, in 223. I use 23 grains with a hornady 75 at mag length. As others say, work up slowly, probably best to work up with a chrono.
