I was hoping for mid-May so i could call it a birthday present. If not I'll call it a D-Day celebration gift to myself.

I think your "expectation level" is appropriately set

There's another thread on msgo about how the LEO sign off may soon no longer be required...

If that comes to pass....Things should fly through...Well....does anything "fly through" Big gubermint....'cept money...

You can count on prices for new toys to go up though...lots of pent up demand

This is my second can, don't know if it makes a difference. Seems like they would let you get a card like ccw that is the background check. It is ridiculous the process, but if that's what I have to deal with for now so be it.

On 6th set of paperwork sent in..... every last one takes about as long as the next. At least, they have been for me. I'm curious to see how taking the CLEO out of the picture affects it. Could be a double edge sword. I know a lot of folks that will apply if that is changed. And you think the ATF is slow NOW?.... just imagine them getting an increase in work load. I don't think the CLEO part will speed up the process for any stage of the process except the individual getting the paperwork together, which quite honestly doesn't take that 'long'. The issue is uncooperative CLEO's, not the time it takes if they are cooperative.

In my opinion, it's a swap some good for bad. Those that have had issues with CLEO's will now be able to enjoy fun toys just like the rest of us!! But I think the process time will increase, at least for a while, due to the new influx of applications. Personally, if it means others get some new toys like I have had the privilege of having over the years.... I'll deal with the increase in wait time. The more good law abiding citizens that have them.... the better.

Yep, six months. If you live to 70 you only get 140 six months for your lifetime. This will take one of them.

Dang when ya put it like that it seems pretty dismal. Especially when ya figure if I live to 70 I only have 30 six-months left.

The feds cashed my check on August 2, my stamp came in this past weekend. A little over 6 months, but I had the holidays in there as well. So as a further experiment, I guess I should get another coming now....
