I've got an early one also but I don't know what the difference is between the early and late models.

I picked it up from a dealer at the gunshot. It's a very cool little machine.

I have an early SD model. The difference is in the barrel shroud. The early barrel shroud was hollow and the feds stated that that is a "silencer". The newer or replacement shroud has an inner sheet metal panel so it is not open to the barrel.

yea, the feds said you could drill holes in the barrel and that the shroud would act as a silencer. thats all crap but im sure someone tried it.

i will not make the shot quiet but it would muffle it just a bit and thats all they needed to make the push to recall those guns.

Love the gsg-5. Just make sure your ejector is riveted and you are good to go. Replace your screws, and put in a H&K push pin kit. Also don't shoot remington golden bullets without cleaning the heck out your barrel. It will lead foul and cause issues.
