School Vows to Fight For Nativity

The superintendent of a public school district in Arkansas is fighting to maintain their Nativity scene. Oustanding! I wish I could meet the man to shake his hand in person.

“Enough is enough,” said Jerry Noble, superintendent of the Green County Tech school district. “It’s His birthday. We celebrate Jesus’ birthday. One person should not be offended by that. We don’t leave it up all year. We’re not promoting religion. It’s not an effort to convert anybody.”

The response from the local ACLU:
“To say that if you have to offend somebody you’d rather offend those in the minority, well that’s just what the Constitution and the First Amendment are all about – not offending the minority, standing up for everybody’s right to practice their religion whether there is one person in your town or a thousand,” ACLU Director Rita Sklar told KUAR. “That the superintendent and perhaps others don’t have respect for that, I think is very sad.”

Uhhhh...really? That is what the Constitution and First Ammendment are all about? Could somebody please point out to me where in the First Ammendment, or anywhere in the Constitution, I am afforded protection from feeling offended?!?!?

Sigh.....

No s**t! I'm pretty sure the 1st Ammendment gives even the majority the right to free speech. Pretty sure it doesn't mention minority, offended, or religion. I quess it takes an idiot to work for the ACLU. I'm sick of being PC. I'm over it. No more for me. I'm working on adding a giant 10ft or taller cross for the front yard. Now I'm gonna spell out Merry Christmas on the roof too.

I feel offended by your use of the word "free". In light of my offended feelings, I will be contacting an attorney to represent me as I undergo litigation against you for causing me to feel offended.

..1st amendment grants us the freedom to practice religion of our choice.

It is times like these I do not understand the ACLU.

We can all acknowledge the root of this dilemma: the fact that the school is a public entity and thus a creature of the State and thus theoretically subject to the separation of church and state.

However, the ACLU's argument is garbage. What's next, they want to eliminate Christmas break for students because it occurs around the same time we celebrate the birth of Christ?

As long as the superintendent did not prevent/deny any other students of different religious affiliation from expressing their religious values during their religious holidays, like Yom Kippur, Hannakuh, Kwanza, etc (granted their expression was equivalent or as low-key as a nativity scene)....the nativity scene should be left alone. It does not appear religion (Christianity) is being forced upon anyone.

Instances like this that keep pushing religion/faithfulness back into the nation's closet, where it does not belong. Little by little, our nation's morals are being chipped away at.

Nowhere, in ANY of our founding documents, does it mention "Separation of Church and State". What the 1st Amendment simply and straightforward says is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The U.S. didnt need or want a state Church/Religion like the Churches of Europe.

This country was founded by a majority of Christians and our laws are based on Christian principles. In our number one founding document "The Declaration of Independence" God is mention in the first line (Natures God) and second line (The Creator).

I am not what you would call a really religious person, I believe in God but do not attend Church or anything like that but when one or two jackasses dislike some religious display that the majority ascribe to and some left leaning court like the 9th Circuit makes law from the bench attacking Christians it pizzes me off.
