Redone my Marlin 100

Post by southernfire97 on Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:47 pm

Just got done with a restore of my old Marlin 100. Re stained the stock in gun stock with a satin poly finish. Re blued all the metal. Hope y'all enjoy the pics. I'm proud of the ol' girl.

Great job. Did you cold blue it? If you did you got a good streak free finish and that is hard to do when cold blueing an entire rifle. Much easier with small parts. Why does the butt plate stand proud?

Yes I did a cold blue job. It took a lot to get it even. The butt plate has always been like that. I didn't want to grind it down to flush. Not sure why it came like that. This is one of the earlier 100's made.

Nice job there. Is that plant next to your house the one that has purple blooms?

Haaa. I didnt see a plant.

I am fixing to do the same with an oldie for a friend. I may go with the cold blue and steel wool to keep the old look. I dont want to make it too nicelooking as it is a hand me down rifle that he wants to put on his wall.

Good job on yours.
