As a leo it disturbs me that no discretion was taking and not just because of who he is. He was obviously trying to obey the law. Why not assist him and advise him of what he needs to do instead..

NY and NJ are not part of the United States .... Muskets and Cannons won them freedom from King George and now they arrest a guy (law abiding - had to be screened to get the permit) and probably try to make him a convicted felon who could never own a gun again .... Two of the original 13 colonies and they disarm their citizens .. SHAME ON THEM!

The really sad part is that Massachusetts, where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired, by armed citizens facing a British force on the way to confiscate arms and powder stored in the area treats gunowners like they have leprosy. John Adams must be spinning in his grave like a gyroscope.

Very true Tuco and the also have several firearm companies operating out of there. Hypocrisy in it's deepest form.
I have checked firearms going to O'Hare and LAX in the past and never had any trouble coming or going. (Unless they are going to assign me a 24 hour guard, I'm looking out for Number 1). They are just two liberal states trying to embarrass someone with opposing views which they didn't care for. I'm sure they would love to slap him with a felony and cause him to lose his firearms but as they say, ignorance of the law is no excuse. I check the laws where ever I go but sometimes bend them to my needs. Get in that pig stye AKA politics puts a big target on you.

This usually results in the person paying a fine. Well, this guy is a Tea Party Co-Founder. I'll bet a dollar to a donut he gets convicted of a felony and jail time.
