I saw a nationally syndicated news article last week in a news paper that was all about women buying guns for self defense. They quoted former anti-gun women who are buying guns in record numbers because they know the law enforcement folks cannot protect them.

I searched the internet news for the link but [surprise, surprise] I cannot find it.

But I did find this New York Times article talking about how easy it is to buy guns on the internet and how

Such weapons, available by the thousands online, fall under a loophole in federal firearm sales laws, and many could potentially find their way into a black market, to the streets and eventually into violent crimes, officials with the New York City mayor’s office said.

I'm sure MS would be pretty high on that list. Probably not #1 but I would think in the top 10 with the biggest thing holding us back is average income. People in MS don't have as much disposable income as some other states like Texas.

I'd also be curious to know which liberal state is last. What's your guess: Massachusetts?, New York?, California? My guess would be NY.

The key to this nation's safety, in my humble opinion, is the old "gun behind every tree" axiom. There is nothing more dangerous to an invader than an angry, determined, and armed local populace. Ninety guns per 100 people is not enough...not with non-existent borders. Everybody should be carrying at least one handgun, one back-up, and one long gun, which works out to three hundred guns per 100 people. Let me check...yep, I'm doing my part. thumbs up

This chart is from 2009. Percent of people who own firearms, MS is 6th 55.3% of the people own guns.

black friday stats didnt include gun sales. i think it was 120,000 instant checks. topped 2008 by 50,000 checks.
