M1 Carbine shooting high
Went to range last week to try out my new-to-me Inland and at 100 yds POI was 6"-9" high shooting Aquilla ammo.
I would prefer to not have to add height to the front sight.
I am ready to begin loading for these rifles...my question is: how much can I expect to affect the POI with different loads? Is there a chance I can pull it down enough?

I have added front sight height by using JB Weld. Be sure the front sight is free of oil. You can make a small dam out of cardboard and pour it onto the front sight, then dress it off and spray paint it black. It can be removed easily by freezing he part and tapping it with a punch.

Shoe -- Very common problem with the carbine ...

I do not believe you will find a load that will make that much correction and yet retain accuracy ... I got a couple carbines that do the same thing.

Both of my Carbines have that same problem, however one of them had the front sight ground down for some odd reason. It shoots 12" to 16" high now and the other one is 6" to 9" high.

I have owned five 6.5X55 Mod 96 Swedes. They all shot almost exactly one foot high without exception. I did as Doug suggested albeit I used another product. This is a really good, easy to implement fix that works. As he said the trick is de-greasing.

The only way to do that is bend the barrel down a little using a vice and a cheater pipe.* Be gentle
*just kidding of course.

So, add to the front sight it seems to be the solution.
Has anyone tried epoxy putty, should be more controllable, don't know about the filing and shaping part of the operation, though.

Try some pc7 epoxy, its stronger than jb weld and fairly thick. Its what is holding on the front site on that cut down nagant of mine, i can pick up the gun by the site and it has not let go yet. Ive used it for years on various repairs.

Have not had problem with Carbine...but have had to do as Doug suggested on Nagant's
You gotta remember...These are battle weapon's for killing humans...not target gun's
At least with 1903-A3 you can get different size front site blades...but that's a real gun...I mean bolt gun...
U can do it shoe...If not take it to a "smithy"...no biggie

You're looking through the back sight wrong..............
Really, try a higher hold point on the front sight (not on the target).
