Don't worry, I'm sure the Muslim Brotherhood will make it all better.

Iraqi people will have to learn what every free country already knows. If they want to keep the freedom we helped win for them...they better damn well start fighting for it. If they chose not to...they deserve just what they get.
That's just the cold hard facts of life.

I don't care anything about what goes on over there.
It was a stupid thing to do, going in there. But we lost almost 4500 Americans there. And for what?

I know a lot of people dont, but I do. Our troops didnt "Go Home". There are 47,000 sitting in Kuwait right now. And if Civil War were to break out between Shi'ites and Sunni's you can bet they would be sent right back in. This isnt over by a long shot.

Someone I know said the peace would last 6 months b/f full scale (this is just an incident) civil war broke out. 4484 Americans killed and for what? That's not counting the 10's of thousands maimed or wounded (inside and outwardly). I hate Bush II for these losses to avenge the supposed "hit" put out on his daddy. No one from Iraq was amoung the 19 terrorist on 9-11. Someone tell what we gained?

I was opposed to the US going into Iraq. If they have weapons of mass destruction, so what? If we invade countries that have WMD, why do we tolerate North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, China, Russia, etc.?
The point is the US cannot (and should not) police the world.
You can see the futility of sending in US troops to establish a democratic government in South Vietnam. How'd that turn out? Not so good. (But communist Vietnam is now a "Most Favored Nation" and we import all kinds of stuff made in Vietnam.)
You see democratic governments in Japan, Italy, and Germany and ask, "What's different about those wars?"
The answer is that the US and our allies DEFEATED Japan, Italy, and Germany---and we held back nothing in securing the victory. We bombed civilians or whatever it took to bring them to their knees.
Unless we are committed to the absolute defeat of a nation, we should never go to war. And that commitment should be based upon a real threat to our nation---not just some effort to extend US power or to make the world safe for democracy.
When you GIVE the people democracy, they do not appreciate it enough to hold on to it. They have to want it bad enough earn it.

Some good points made. I never thought that we were looking for WMD. Instead, I think the US was looking for a strategic piece of real estate to park some aircraft and tanks near countries like Iran and Syria. I think we hoped that we would make a friend with the new Iraq government and we station troops there much like we did in Europe in the Cold War. Looks like that isn't working out very well! There are so many lessons to be learned here, but I'm afraid that we will not pay attention.

Can't swim but can be sold to China and Russia to test for failure points and vulnerablities.
