7.62x54R(Surplus) SR-25/DPMS-LR/AR-10 Upper Receiver.

There is so much surplus 7.62x54R Surplus why not build a upper for these frames. There is frames for 5.45, why not 7.62. I know you couldn't have a 20 round mag, but you should be fine with a 5 or 10 rounder. I Would love one of these. What say YOU?

Sounds like fun. Wonder if the rimmed case would be an issue?

The rimmed case is an issue for 7.62x39 in the AR15 platform. That's why there are not many of them. Are these rounds too long? I thought they were a good bit longer than the .308.

It would have to be on 308 length lower or maybe custom, feeding from a mag over 10 rounds probably wouldnt work too well either. Even a psl or dragunov only has a 10rd mag.

7.62x54 Overall length 77.16 mm (3.038 in)

7.62x51 Overall length 69.85 mm (2.750 in)

heck the biggest set back with AutoMag pistols chambered in magnums(rimmed) was because of the rim.. which is why the 44automag was created it used a 308 as a parent case..

OK, the rim is a hurtle. But even a five rounder would still fun and be $$$$$ cheaper than $20 per 20 308

Have you seen the 7.62x54R VEPR rifles for sale? I've only seen 5 round magazines, but that would be a heck of an "AK". I think classicarms.us has some or did with the Saigas.

And unlike with the PSL, you should be able to use the heavy ball 180gr+ rounds with the VEPR because of the heavier/sturdier receiver.
